Our Approach

THE ACW APPROACH

ACW takes a holistic and collaborative approach to health, incorporating factors such as faith, spirituality, physical ability, and cultural norms. Therapeutic confrontation and supportive humor are used to implement strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and solution focused therapy just to name a few.

Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. The aim is to improve emotional regulation and develop healthier coping strategies by challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. The practice helps individuals manage intense emotions while improving relationships in four key areas while emphasizing acceptance and change.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a time-limited, focused treatment that aims to improve interpersonal relationships and communication patterns. IPT helps individuals identify and address issues such as role conflicts, grief, social isolation, and communication problems.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented, short-term therapeutic approach that emphasizes finding practical solutions to current problems rather than focusing on past issues. The therapy encourages clients to identify their strengths, resources, and past successes to help them create actionable strategies for overcoming challenges.

Trauma-Focused Therapies

Trauma-focused therapies are a set of therapeutic approaches designed to help individuals process and heal from the emotional, psychological, and physical effects of trauma. These therapies aim to create a safe environment for individuals to explore their traumatic experiences, understand their impact, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
